Our supported charity (2019 onwards)

IDASYou will all know someone who is, or has been, suffering domestic violence. But you won't know it!
It is a vile, silent, hidden crime that victims can't tell you about. It can be physical, sexual and emotional, with the victim living in constant fear of what will be to come.

IDAS is the largest specialist charity in Yorkshire supporting people affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence.

If you want to know more (or need help yourself) visit https://www.idas.org.uk/ or ring 0808 2000 247.

We are collecting loose change at every class, selling second hand books, holding a raffle at our monthly social evenings, and more. All donations of books and raffle prizes are gratefully received.

The charity's services include refuge accommodation, community based support, peer mentoring, group work and access to a free, confidential out of hours' helpline.

It has teams of accredited specialist workers (IDVA's and ISVAs) to support people through the criminal justice system in addition to providing emotional support and safety planning advice.

IDAS recognises that most victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence are women and provides a number of single sex services such as refuges to women and their children. However, the majority of its services are accessible to anyone who is affected by abuse and male and LGBT+ victims and survivors are encouraged to access the charity's support.

For children and young people, IDAS has developed one to one and group support. The young persons' RYPP (Respect Young Person's Programme) also works with families where the young person is abusive.

IDAS prides itself on a professional, responsive and innovative approach. With over 40 years' experience the team has been at the forefront of developing new and unique services and was the first organisation in the UK to develop free online training and Live Chat support for survivors.

Funding comes from the local authority, trusts, the Police Crime Commissioner, donations and grants.
